LAUNCHING OF COMMUNITY-BASED HEALTH PLANNING AND SERVICES (CHPS) POLICY AND COMMISSIONING OF 64 CHPS COMPOUNDS
The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama will join the people of the Upper West Region ( Nadowli-Kaloe) to launch a CHPS policy and commission 64 CHPS compounds in the region.
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 22, 2016′ 9am at Loho in the Nadowli-District.
After several years of implementation of the CHPS, policy, HE President, John Dramani Mahama tasked the Ministry of Health with the responsibility of redeveloping the CHPS policy to fit into modern health care system. Series of National CHPS Fora were held with all stakeholders present, out of these a policy document was born.
The document talks about the CHPS concept, Human Resource capacity at that level and the other infrastructure. Hitherto, there wasn’t any clearly defined type of building for CHPS compounds, now one is sure of what type and style of building which constitute a CHPS compound.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), realizing the leadership being played by HE the President of Ghana decided to assist government to put up 64 CHPS Compounds in that region.
We are grateful to Cabinet Secretariat and its DELIVER Programme, our development partners especially JICA and DFID who are complementing the government’s effort in this area. The Government of Ghana will continue to provide health care facilities to the people of Ghana to enable us bridge the equity gap in healthcare delivery.
