Vice President Commissioned Sefwi Akontombra Distict Hospital

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has commissioned the newly constructed Sehwi Akontombra District Hospital in the Western North Region to improve access to quality healthcare in the area.

In addition to other administrative units, the brand-new healthcare facility which started in 2018 features an outpatient department, a theatre, contemporary hospital beds, a children’s ward, male and female wards, a psychiatric unit, public health, an x-ray, a dispensary, and consulting rooms.

In his remarks to the gathering, the vice president stated that the government is dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare in all parts of the country, which is why ambulances have been dispatched to every constituency, drones are now being used to offer medical care and other crucial initiatives have been made in health services.

Hon. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, the health minister on his part, indicated that the opening of Sehwi Akontombra District Hospital is evidence that President Akufo-Addo is committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage, making it simple for people to access medical care wherever they are.

The Minister stated that the government has finished six additional district hospitals, including the Akontombra District Hospital, and that they will be ready for commissioning in a relatively short period of time to serve the people of those respective communities.

The Director General of Ghana Health Services, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye, Nana Ayew Afriyie, the Chairperson of the parliamentary select committee on health, the leaders of the Sehwi Wiawso traditional council, medical professionals, and residents of Sehwi Akontombra were all present at the ceremony.
