STAKEHOLDERS DISCUSS THE HEALTH SERVICE BILL
A stakeholder consultative meeting has been held in Koforidua on 7th October, 2017 to seek input in finalizing the health service bill on decentralization.
The purpose of the workshop was on the decentralization of health service
function. The meeting was to seek inputs from all stakeholders to enable the Hon.
Minister to have a proper understanding of the contents and processes leading to
the development of the bill so as to be able to defend it in parliament when
brought to that August House in due course.
The Minister, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu said in a speech that, the meeting was
to harvest ideas about the health service bill that seeks to decentralize health by
devolution to the district and subsidiary levels.
He further stated that, the health sector is faced with a lot of challenges, but
the resources envelope is not enough to match the magnitude of the challenges.
In attendance at the function were representatives from Local Government
Service, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Inter-ministerial Coordinating
Committee on Decentralization (IMCC), associations within the health Sector as
well as staff from the Ministry Of Health.
