The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has officially inaugurated the newly appointed board members of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH), marking a critical milestone in the ongoing transformation of Ghana\u2019s health sector.
\nSpeaking at the ceremony, the Minister emphasized that the inauguration was not merely a formal event, but a reassertion of the Ministry\u2019s commitment to strong leadership and improved healthcare delivery across the country.
\nHighlighting the pivotal role of the Ghana Health Service, the Minister described the institution as the frontline of care, from CHPS compounds to regional hospitals and underscored its central role in delivering the government\u2019s health reforms.
\nAddressing the new Board of the Ho Teaching Hospital, the Minister reminded members of their unique responsibility not only to save lives but also to train the next generation of health professionals.
\nHe acknowledged challenges such as funding gaps, workforce migration, and shifting disease patterns but urged all members to commit to public service, innovation, and, above all, the well-being of the Ghanaian patient.
\n\u201cLet today mark a turning point. Let\u2019s get to work because the health and well-being of our people depend on it,\u201d he concluded.
\nSpeaking on behalf of the GHS Board, the Chairman, Prof. Fred Newton Binka, expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in the board and assured the Ministry of their readiness to serve with integrity and purpose. He emphasized the board\u2019s commitment to enhancing service delivery, upholding professional standards, and contributing meaningfully to the nation\u2019s health objectives.
\nIn a separate address, the Chairman of the HTH Board, Dr. Delanyo Yao Tsidi Dovlo also conveyed appreciation for the trust placed in them. He pledged that the board would work collaboratively with the Ministry and other stakeholders to improve healthcare outcomes and support the broader health goals of the country.
