GHANA HOLDS BILATERAL MEETING WITH SDG – GLOBAL ACTION PLAN TEAM

As part of the side meetings at the 72nd World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, the Ghanaian delegation to the conference had a breakfast meeting with the SDG – Global Action Plan team.
This is a follow-up to a meeting held between the two parties at the Health Summit organised by the Ministry of Health in Accra, in April, 2019.
The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu led a section of Ghana’s delegation to breakfast meeting.
The Accra meeting centered on the type of support Ghana require to achieve Primary Health Care (PHC), and at the end of deliberations, dominant issues that were identified included Health Financing (public financial management; the GIFMIS system), and achieving Universal Health Coverage(UHC)- through Primary Health Care.
Addressing the SDG-Global Action Plan team, Hon. Agyeman-Manu indicated that Ghana is already doing so much work in the health sector to reach UHC for all Ghanaians.
However, the major challenge that confronts Ghana in the attainment of the Universal Health Coverage is resource mobilisation.

The Minister therefore called for support in the areas of infrastructure development, and logistics such as vehicles, motorcycles, computers and tablets for digital data gathering of information among other things.
