BOLGATANGA REGIONAL HOSPITAL COMMISSIONED

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has commissioned the end-of-the-year Bolgatanga Regional Hospital Rehabilitation Project phase III in the Upper East Region as a step in enhancing healthcare delivery in the region.

In his address, President Akufo-Addo emphasised that it is important for citizens to access quality healthcare, affirming that it is a fundamental right for every Ghanaian.

“Access to quality Health care is a fundamental right of every citizen, and the government must ensure that the exercise of this right is not just theoretical but, more importantly, practical; this new hospital reinforces the Akufo Addo government’s devotion to this core”. He said

In addition, the Akufo Addo highlighted the need to address the uneven distribution of healthcare workers, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He urged the Ministry of Health to expedite the finalisation of an incentive package to attract and retain medical professionals where needed.

He concluded by expressing gratitude to the Saudi Fund for their financial support and to all stakeholders who contributed to completing the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital project.

The Minister for Health Hon. Dr Bernard Okoe Boye in his address mentioned that the $1.76billion Agenda 111 project has its footprint also in the Upper East Region, highlighting eight (8) of this project in Nabdam, Zuarungu, Binduri, Garu, Tempane, Pusiga, Paga and Fumbisi in the Upper East region

“Maintaining these facilities is as crucial as building them, equipment failures and misuse can undermine our progress. We need to ensure these facilities are used wisely and cared for diligently. we have made substantial investments, but sustaining them requires a collective effort.” He urged the people of the Upper East region.

Hon. Okoe Boye took the opportunity to announce that, In the next four weeks, the president will unveil the most ultra-modern urology, metrology and kidney transplant centre in West Africa at the Korle bu Teaching Hospital which will significantly address the rena care issues currently troubling this country.

He further acknowledged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Finance, the Infrastructure directorate of the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service and other partners for dedicating resources and time to making the project a reality.

The Minister, to conclude, stated that the Ministry, with the support of the government, is working tirelessly to make sure that at least three of the Agenda 111 projects will be operationalized before the end of the year.
